To control the speed of
the DC motor gradually, smooth DC voltage across the
armature of the motor needs to be regulated along
with the fixed DC voltage across the Field winding
in the case of the 4 wire DC motors. The DC drive
featured here, generates the variable DC voltage using
phase angle control technique incorporating Diode
/ SCR rectifier. The DC voltage across the armature
winding can be smoothly varied using the potentiometer
or using the external control signal of 4-20mA or
(0-5)VDC. Models are available for 1/8HP to 5HP DC
motors operating on 100VDC to 400VDC.
